The WCHS Mission

Our mission is to achieve the best possible treatment and quality of life for animals in Wood County, Ohio.

We emphasize the following goals:
  • To educate Wood County citizens about the principals and practices of humane treatment of animals.
  • To investigate and resolve reports of animal cruelty and abuse.
  • To provide a clean, healthy shelter environment for stray and abandoned animals. In addition, we provide safe surroundings of animals who had to be removed from a particular situation or who have been surrendered because their owners could no longer take care of them.
  • To offer assistance to pet owners through low-cost rabies clinics, discounted spay or neuter opportunities, advice and referrals.
  • To find good homes for shelter animals.
